Tho the exact origin is unknown, these lavishly embroidered
Hmong/Miao festival aprons speak a universal language about
what is important and meaningful in life. The brilliant colors
dazzle the eye and act as attractions for a mate. The motifs
of flowers and plants, birds, and trees of life fill the frames
and become wishes waiting for fulfillment. Fertility, family
and the desire for future generations are the message, with
embroidery as the medium. We love these modern, upbeat renditions
of an age-old theme, and are pleased to see these textile traditions
continue.
