Maonan Blanket

This modern Maonan blanket differs from the old ones, with the horizontal decorative bands moving to the edges, and the field filled with geometric motifs rather than flora and fauna. Concentric borders of red and blue cotton distract from the hot palette of rust red, magenta, aqua and purple, but we left them on for identification purposes; they can easily be removed and replaced with natural linen for a more aesthetically-pleasing display. Comprising three panels, the weaving is supplementary weft silk. Condition is excellent.
